PLANNING - Research for Band Photography

As well as looking at existing bands images of our chosen artist Kings of Leon, we researched into other bands of the same genre, such as:

• Kasabian
• Muse
• The Killers
• Paramore
• Arctic Monkeys
• 30 Seconds To Mars
• The Cribs
• Enter Shikari
• The Libertines

From researching into band photos of the alternative genre, it enabled us to recgonise the typical codes and conventions of these images which we can consider and interpret into our final products, such as the album and website. We identfied the styles of the band members, their mise-en-scene and how they are portrayed through their positions, backgrounds and effects.

From analysing existing photos, it  provided us with ideas that we can use for our own principal photography. Therefore, these images will provide inspiration to our own work which will ensure that they consist of the typical codes and conventions of the alternative rock genre.

From looking at different alternative rock bands style and clothing, this enabled us to choose appropriate clothing for our models to wear during our own photography. The images below show some potential ideas of clothing that we will base our photography on, that we aquired through different clothing websites such as All Saints, Topman and Burton.
